FROM PARIS WITH LOVE (2010, Lionsgate, R, $30) — John Travolta is a daredevil fixer who shows up in Paris to help a by-the-books CIA operative (Jonathan Rhys Meyers) avert a terrorist threat. SHUTTER ISLAND (2010, Paramount, R, $20) — Martin Scorsese's latest is a mind-teasing blend of harrowing character study, wind-whipped gothic mystery and old-fashioned horror shocker set in and around a creepy mental asylum for the criminally insane. But the trigger-happy Travolta has a blast chewing on the scenery, the twists provide jaw-dropping fun, and director Pierre Morel ("Taken," "District 13") injects the action scenes with a nerve-jangling intensity. Extras: making-of featurettes and Morel commentary. Extras: none. Is Teddy being drugged, manipulated, lied to. The less you know, the more you get pulled in. Prepare to be blown away. When a deranged killer (Emily Mortimer) seemingly disappears into thin air at the isolated facility, U. S. Marshal Teddy Daniels (Leonardo DiCaprio) arrives to investigate.
